July 1, 2022
In this year, 2022/2023 it is my honour and privilege to lead Ancaster Rotary AM, an incredible club with a very active, engaging and diverse membership of 40 people.
To follow in the light of this year's Rotary International theme and vision of "imagine". Which is being spearheaded by the first-ever female international President and Canadian, Jennifer Jones.
My "imagine" vision for our club this year is to be even more inclusive of all in our community, to build on our community programs like our Autumn Stroll, Christmas programs and of course our car raffle, to continue our "Service above Self" and have some good fun along the way.
We are fortunate to be able to hold some of our key fundraising events this year, in particular our Autumn Stroll event, bringing this much-loved community event back for its 23rd year of running. In our district grant program this year we will partner with an incredible operation supporting youth in the community, CityKidz.
The club has raised and donated millions of dollars in our Ancaster community, as well as the greater Hamilton area and internationally. We have contributed to some incredible community projects like the Ancaster Memorial Arts Theatre, Village Splash Pad, Ancaster Rotary Community Centre, Margaret's Place Hospice at St Josephs Villa, McMaster Children's Hospital and Juravinski Cancer Centre.
In the coming year, we plan to restart our Youth Exchange program, offering continued support to the ACS Christmas Hamper program and DECA program at Ancaster High School.
None of these things are possible without the unwavering support of the community. If you would like to join us, we always are looking for new members and you are welcome to come to a meeting to learn more.
Yours in Rotary
Karl Hanley, President
