On Thursday, June 30, 2011, guest speaker Cynthia Graham elaborated on the proposed development of the Village Green Park. The primary area of focus is a splash pad for children, located behind the Ancaster Library. The Ancaster Rotary Club will have the opportunity to fund this community project.

Splash pads combine upright elements and ground jets to spray, dump, and shoot water at various intervals. Construction requires an overspray area to reduce any mess. Several already existing splash pads also incorporate seating walls. Splash pads can be customized with various themes, and with coloured concrete and coloured jets. Plaques or tiles at each splash pad site provide fundraising recognition.

If the Ancaster Rotary Club commits to funding this community project, the outstanding amount of the Rotary Centre will be retired. The club can then work with the city and the community to create a splash pad design representative of the town of Ancaster.
